Writing for Packt: modern day slavery (even cotton pickers had bed and board) …

So now my ‘publisher' is selling my book, name and experience and, near as damn it, a year's work … yet is PAYING ME ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in royalties

… and despite Douglas Paterson, their ‘Publisher (Open Source)', having admitted that their pre-launch editorial and post-launch marketing “made mistakes at every conceivable turn” (and also despite Packt's Technical Ed having said I was one of the best writers he'd ever worked with).

Can you believe this dialogue, for example:-

I mean, I'm not seriously comparing my lot with that of enslaved Africans but the message is clear: Packt is a first rate example of a modern-day company running a parasitic business model, enticing talent with lies and deceit and caring for nowt bar their trough.

Care to comment, Founder Louay Fatoohi? (The guy that also tried it on, personally, for 50% of my wpCop site revenues, and who continues to ignore my call for him to justify using my work and who continues to ignore my call for transparency over their affiliate scam, instead suggesting that we forget the past (together with forgetting accounting for money owed!). Nice one, pal.

Wish I'd never written that fecking book, far less ever encountered the social engineers that are Packt Publishing.

(For the record, my polite email questions were ignored or paid lip service to, for 2 years, before I took this dispute public to expose this charade. Packt have had plenty of opportunity to play fair. Instead, increasingly exposed and frankly stupidly stubborn, they play games.)

    G’day Olly!

Crap, mate! Are they still playing silly buggers with you? 🙁

I know this much, I’ll be keeping the plastic securely locked up – rather than spend a cent with Packit!
