Well, this may sound sad, and that's 'cos it is, but I've been salivating tongue-to-floor for months, waiting for the Ubuntans' latest release.
.. Damn, time was, I used to be that way about the upcoming Oasis album but, in their case, that turned out to be crap.
Here though, with the more respectfully named Lucid Lynx, and having toyed with this pussy on and off for the last few days, I have to say - so far - it's box-clever.
Hold on.
Sorry, I've been tut'ing up a forthcoming how-to series about this new OS and I have to say, it's very hard not to sound like some kind of pervert.
I mean, where do they get these names?: HARDY Heron, Jaunty JACKOFF, OK then they needed Karma but now .. Lurid Lips? .. who are these guys trying to kid?
.. Sex bloody maniacs the lot, the Ubuntu devs. I reckon they need to get out more.
Anyway, that's not why I'm tapping this out. I'll try to keep it clean.
IMHO, Ubuntu was and is pretty darn fab anyhow, considering it doesn't cost a tinker's cuss, kicks virae into touch and funnels this system's resources where they're needed, (rather than checking to see if I've got Windoze-bloody-updates turned on) .. running Firefox fast.
But now, with Saucy Mynx, I have some real good news, the kind of news that will send any true 'Buntu 'votee straight down the pub to raise a glass:-
THE WIRELESS WORKS and, at the risk of still more innuendo, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.
Oh, and the sound .. and the newly empurpled graphics .. and it seems faster but that may be me, this thing's got me buzzing.
I'm running the release candidate at the moment, and I'll tell you this beta is more alpha than Karmic ever was or is.
Superb. Cheers oh-perverted-ones.
.. Seriously, thank you Ubuntans.
But there was another reason for this scribble, and particularly I wanted to give a shout out to Guv's ridiculously loyal subbers who, despite the fact I've been AWOL with my teething new VPS Bible site, imaginatively called vpsBible.com, have stuck in there and waited for me to write something I'm not actually gonna bill them for
.. Well, I hope I can reward you patience ..
Over the next few weeks I'll be spieling off the Lucid Lynx Bible which, I naturally expect, when read will destroy Microsoft in one fell swoop as I show just how sexy is this, er, cat. Just how productive, just how fun, just how configurable, just how damn cool, just how un-Micropap.
Yes, this is a re-hash of the Karmic Koala Bible, but oh-so much more important being a Long Term Support edition and therefore with a complete re-mastering of the Karmic tutorials and with a whole bunch of completely new how-to guides.
.. Anyway, that's enough for now, I need to get back to it, but come Monday the_guv is not just at vpsB but also back home at Guv, with his pussy-box guide, and publishing three a week of the near-finished series for the foreseeable. And I'll take a cold shower meantime - sorry, really, well, a bit.
That's it, except to say if you missed my Lynx Unleashed Review earlier this week, there is time my friend to redeem yourself.
And for any of you vpsB's popping over here to read this, all I can say is, damn, I am looking forward to cracking into Lucid Server edition pretty damn soon, and then to benching that against CentOS and Debian. (Now why did that sound rude too?)
I'd best go.

Set up Lynx .. tweak it to perfection .. & maximize productivity .. for work & play.
That's what the Lucid Bible does, stepped out in easy copy/paste guides.
From Linux initiates to intermediates, here's what you need.
Er, sorry, I can't give you the index till I've finished playing with my new pussy.
You'll just have to wait. Won't be long.
