PayPal Support? You Must be Joking

paypal's logo

The sham that is PayPal does not fail to disappoint.

First they open a “case” for no apparent reason, having received no complaint and as I explained in PayPal: Can I Trust You With My Business?

Then they steal money from my account. Steal? Strong word huh .. it's in the dictionary. (Sue me!)

17 emails to their “support” department later, they haven't answered a single question.

I post up to their community forum and my post is censored. 🙂

PayPal Support: Inept, Inadequate, Insulting

Anyhow, here's the gist of the latest email. It's pretty self-explanatory. Tell you what though, my days doing business with this scampany are numbered. They just aren't trustworthy.

Here are the questions that, despite having sent c. 17 emails to Paypal regarding the issue, remain unanswered:-

  • Why was an “investigation” opened when no complaint had been made and both seller and buyer had “verified” accounts?
  • Why does PayPal act in this intrusive manner, involving itself in matters that are not of its concern?
  • Why has PayPal taken it upon itself, effectively, to steal money from my business?
  • What assurance can I have that this malpractice is an unfortunate mistake and will not transpire again?
  • When will you refund the money you have taken?
  • When will you admit to and apologize for what is a flagrant breach of proper business practise?

Sadly it appears that Paypal is interested in paying lipservice to this matter and, presumably, hoping that it will simply go away. Your service is pathetic and insulting.

If any of you guys have a decent alternative to PP for online biz, I'd be grateful for suggestions.

    @LGForde, Alex & Jerry

Let’s just say I’m been away for a while, sorry, have a smile 🙂

I take your points, and appreciate them.

I’ve been pretty busy on a book the last few months but will be readdressing this issue. Guess I’ll be considering WorldPay too.

You don’t have to use PayPal… and from what I see of your experience, you shouldn’t. Google Checkout is a good free alternative or you can use a low-priced merchant account. No more fees than PP plus you get personal/good service for about $20/30 per month. Seems reasonable to do that instead of continue to patronize a company that did you wrong…

Guvnr, i would recommend google checkout.By that system you can send money online but if there is a refund, the sellers policy holds.
